Obituary of Patricia Ann Barton

Patricia Ann Barton passed away on March 29, 2017, at Inova Loudoun Hospital, Leesburg, VA. Born April 13, 1934 in Washington, DC, she graduated from Roosevelt High in 1951. While attending George Washington University in 1954, she married Victor Barton, and after raising five children returned to college, graduating from George Mason in 1971. Ms. Barton read for the law, passing the bar in 1978. She joined Lowe, Mark, Moffett and Barton as a partner, leaving in 1984 to open her own practice. Ms. Barton served as the President of the Virginia College of Criminal Defense Attorneys, Chair of the General Practice Section of the Virginia State Bar, Chair of the Senior Lawyers Conference of the Virginia State Bar, and member of the Virginia Bar Council. She argued and won a case before the US Supreme Court and was a fierce advocate for justice and women's rights. In 1998 Ms. Barton graduated from the Barbara Brennan School of Healing and was a practitioner of Barbara Brennan Healing Science for 10 years. A loyal and loving friend, she was a lifelong Delta Gamma, volunteered with Loudon Volunteer Caregivers, and sang in the choir at Galilee UMC. Patricia is survived by her children Douglas Barton, Kathy Barton, Michael Barton, Nancy Barton and their families; granddaughters Meg Barton, Faith Barton, and Kelsey Barton. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 23 at the Clubhouse at Lansdowne Woods, 19375 Magnolia Grove Square, Leesburg, VA 20176.
