Obituary of Kenneth Eugene Pachmayr

Kenneth (“Ken,” “Kenny”) Eugene Pachmayr, son of Kenneth George Pachmayr and Mary Jean Pachmayr, passed away on the evening of Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Reston Medical Center from complications involving his heart and lungs. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and resided in Chantilly, Virginia, at the time of his death.

Ken was a Vietnam veteran who worked as a police officer and started many small businesses in the pursuit of entrepreneurial success. While he never struck it rich, if wealth were measured in amazing stories, Ken died a wealthy man. He leaves a legacy of adventures, most of them ending in extreme humor or sometimes tragedy (depending on which side of the story you fell)—but in no case was any story ever boring.

In addition to being a writer, Ken was a gifted storyteller. Much of his life will continue to be told (and revealed) by those fortunate enough to have heard—and, in some cases, to have lived through—the many stories surrounding his life. Ken was also fascinated by technology; he developed and maintained multiple websites for his own entrepreneurial pursuits and for various clients through his final days.

Ken is survived by his wife, Ellen, their son, Cary Pachmayr; son, Coby Pachmayr, from a previous marriage; granddaughter Makayla, grandson Philip; and his siblings Karen Pachmayr Crossland, Betty Pachmayr Hale, Mike Pachmayr, Steve Pachmayr, David Pachmayr. He was preceded in death by his middle son, Cory Pachmayr; and sisters Kathy Pachmayr and Barbara Pachmayr Braden.

Ken’s ashes will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. with graveside services on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 9:00 with Navy honors.

A memorial site has been established at http://bit.ly/kenpachmayr with additional information that will be updated with dates and times.
