Obituary of Sandra Sorenson Jones

Sandra Jones, beloved wife of Lowell Jones and a resident of Falcons Landing, Potomac Falls, Virginia, passed away on June 6, 2017.

Sandy was born in Sioux City, Iowa, and attended Denver University, where she met Lowell.  They married after he graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1961.  She was a cheerleader in both high school and college. She was the perfect Air Force wife, spending a good amount of time in Officers' Wives Club activities.  Sandy and Lowell raised two loving sons, Lance and Kevin.  She loved spending time with her five grandchildren, friends, playing bridge, ladies luncheons, her dogs, and being a Red Cross volunteer.  Lowell and Sandy enjoyed travelling together for over 38 years - especially in their Airstream travel trailers.  Sandy was very active in the Lutheran Church - on the church council and involved in food for the homeless.  Upon her death, Sandy was a member of Community Lutheran Church in Sterling, Virginia.  She was also a volunteer with Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels) and a friend to all.  She had been battling dementia and other medical issues for over ten years.

Sandy is survived by Lowell, her devoted husband of 56 years; two sons, Lance and his wife Fawn, and Kevin and his wife Nicole; and five grandchildren:  Brennan, Logan, Caelyn, Josh, and Shannen. 

A memorial service will be held on July 14, 2017 at Falcons Landing at 2:00 P.M.  She will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 1:00 PM.
