Obituary of Martha Ellen Gannon

Martha Ellen Gannon passed away on July 8, 2017 in Reston Hospital. Marty was born October 11,1935 in Washington, DC to Joseph and Edith Gannon.

She was proud to be a “Native Washingtonian”. Marty loved teaching and, most recently, taught third grade  in Fairfax County at Navy Elementary. Her most treasured role was being a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her three daughters: Maureen Hogarty McColgan, Jennifer Hogarty Rutz and Mary Elizabeth Hogarty; three sisters, Anne Gallagher, Catherine Lavins and Bernadette Judge; her son-in-law Scott Rutz; two grandchildren, Brendan and Katie Rutz; and numerous nieces & nephews and their families. 

A funeral Mass will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Reston, VA on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11:00 am.
