Obituary of Robert Alan Keisman

Dr. Robert Alan Keisman, 89, Internist and Cardiologist, died on July 11, 2017 in Reston, VA. Born on September 4, 1927, in Manhattan to Dr. Murray and Maria Keisman, he graduated from Columbia College in 1945 (Phi Beta Kappa), and served in the U.S. Navy that year. He graduated from Penn Medical School in 1950. Bob ran a solo practice in Philadelphia for decades. He later led medical review at the Social Security Administration in Philadelphia. He married Robin Hathaway in 1961. Together, they created a photography business and a publishing firm (Barnhouse Press). Bob was the inspiration for and editor of Robin’s “Dr. Fenimore” mystery series. He had many achievements, but will be best remembered for his wit, wisdom, and kindness. He is survived by his two daughters, Anne Cissel and Julie Miller, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 21 at 1PM at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation.
