Obituary of Edward Francis Welkener

Edward Francis Welkener passed away peacefully at his home in Herndon, VA on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the age of 78.  Edward is survived by his loving wife Anne of 55 years. They were married at Our Lady of Lourdes in Bethesda, MD on January 27, 1962.  Edward is affectionately remembered by his wife Anne of Herndon; daughters Karen Hidalgo and Kelley Mosier; sister Kathy Politis and 4 loving grandchildren and other relatives.

Edward was born in Troy, NY but spent most of his life in the Washington, DC area.  He graduated from St. John’s College High School, Washington, DC in 1957 as Major of the Band, and attended the University of Virginia. He retired from the Interstate Commerce Commission in 1995 as Chief, Systems Services Branch.

His main interest was in computers which was his vocation and avocation.  He was an avid gun enthusiast and had a wonderful passion for cooking.  He also enjoyed spending time in Florida.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date.
