DeAndre James Marshall
DeAndre James Marshall, the second son of the late Willis Marshall and Joan Carr Marshall, was born on February 15th, 1965 in Falls Church, Virginia. DeAndre attended Dogwood Elementary and South Lakes High in Reston, Va.
A happy child, DeAndre was nurtured and thrived in a Christian home provided by Willis and Joan. God, family, hard work, and opportunity were the tenets which the Marshall family instilled in DeAndre.
DeAndre loved playing outdoors with his cousins and friends. Growing up he soon excelled in soccer and played numerous years for Reston's travel soccer teams, ultimately playing throughout high school for South Lakes as a striker. Blessed with a gentle spirit, all who interacted with DeAndre were left in a better place. He never met anyone that he didn’t consider a friend.
After high school DeAndre found his passion though his work in the airline industry...traveling! It was through his work with Continental Airlines and United Airlines that his spirit began to shine. With posts originally at Washington-Dulles International Airport and then Reagan National Airport, DeAndre was privileged to serve many people on their journey and he took great pride in helping those who needed it.
It would be perfectly normal to get a phone call or email from DeAndre from some distant part of the world. The Dominican Republic, Belize, Central America, and Europe were common destinations for DeAndre as he cultivated friendships and professional relationships internationally. Using technology, DeAndre provided live updates of his adventures for all to share. DeAndre shared his life with everyone. Once he invited you in, you couldn't escape his warmth, charm, humor, and spirit.
DeAndre was devoted to his family, cousins, and friends and regaled all with stories of his adventures or his thoughts on current events.
DeAndre has joined his father in heaven, and leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother Joan Carr Marshall, his Aunt Jean Warren, his Aunt Clara Carr, his brother Chris Marshall (Honey), his sister Tiffany Marshall, and his nephew Chris A. Marshall. DeAndre also leaves behind scores of nieces and nephews, cousins, colleagues, and friends.
