Obituary of Joseph Ernest Starkey, Sr.

Joseph Ernest Starkey, Sr., 84, of Ashburn died Saturday, September 2, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 21, 1933 in Loudoun County, VA. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Esther Starkey of Ashburn; his children Mike & Barbara Starkey of Berryville; Sandy Raines of Ashburn; Rob & Deanna Starkey of Sterling; Ted & Marnie Starkey of Ranson, WV; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and one sister, Ruth Murphy of Sterling. He was preceded in death by his sons Donald Lee & Joseph Ernest Starkey, Jr.; one sister, two brothers, one half brother & his parents.

Joseph enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, hunting, fishing, cooking out, spending time with his family, watching westerns, coffee and ice cream. He always made sure everyone felt loved and was included, taking care of everyone else before himself.

Visitation is Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM and the funeral will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, VA. Burial at Sterling Cemetery.
