There are not many left to view this, but Susie was a wonderful lady, who now has her husband and her son by her side. Though you have gone before us, we will do our best to not forget you, until we ourselves, join you.

Haruko Tsutsumi, her maiden name, was born in 1926 as a second daughter of a wealthy family who run a big clothing store in Shingu City, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. However, in December 1946, shortly after the war, the store collapsed and her father died because of the massive earthquake that struck this region. Furthermore, the following year, her mother died, so brothers and sisters of Tsutsumi family spent a hard time. Beyond these days, she encountered Mr. Walter J. Koplaski and caught her happiness. It would have never been easy to live abroad at that time, but she worked well, raised a child and survived in American society. I think her efforts are worth respecting.
In heaven there must be no borderline. I pray for her to reunion her deceased parents and other Tsutsumi family members including my father.

When I learned of my aunt Haruko died on a phone call from John, I innocently felt like she came close to me rather than going away. It is because contact has been discontinued for many years. It took quite a while to recognize calmly that her news after a long absence was the news of her death.
I would like to express my sincere condolences to all the family members and to apologize to my aunt for not contacting for many years.
May she be rested in peace beside her husband.
From Tokyo,
Keisuke

John, I am so very sorry for the loss of your Mom. I'm also sorry that I never had the opportunity to meet her as she seems like a fascinating and wonderful lady. Having just recently gone through the loss of my own Mom, I know this is a very hard time for you and no matter how old we are......it's not easy becoming an orphan. Keep her memory alive and close in your heart and take great pride in the person she was and the beautiful culture that was so much a part of her life.

Susie was a very special lady to a shy 7-11 year old girl in Cheyenne and Honolulu. She gifted me with special Japanese shoes and a geisha doll, and she sewed me a beautiful kimono. I have had and will continue to carry precious memories of Susie, her talents, and her smile. Maureen
