Obituary of Nicholas Arthur Tumolo

Nicholas Arthur Tumolo, whose huge heart touched everyone who knew him, died suddenly on September 10, 2017. He was 27 years old.

He was known and loved for his kindness and contagious laugh by a wide and expanding circle of friends and family that ranged across the United States and as far away as Southeast Asia. He was always generous and accepting of others, and loyal and loving to his family.

Nick was born January 17, 1990 in Leesburg, Virginia. He spent his earliest years in Purcellville, Virginia and Darmstadt, Germany, before his family returned to Falls Church in Northern Virginia.

After graduating from George Mason High School, Nick attended Lynchburg College, where he studied psychology with a minor in communications. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 2014. His love of people helped steer him into a career in sales.

As a boy Nick was an avid figure skater and excelled at the sport. When he was older he loved sailing, diving, rock climbing, biking and working out at the gym. He also enjoyed traveling, including adventures in Vietnam, Cambodia and Europe. From a young age he loved animals and children.

Nick will always remain in the hearts of those close to him: His parents Arthur and Sarah of Phippsburg, Maine; his sister Marlies of Key Largo, Florida; and the rest of his loving extended family.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23 at the Great Falls Grange at 9818 Georgetown Pike in Great Falls, Virginia.

Donations in Nick’s honor can be made to the Harrison House Foundation in Annandale, Virginia, at www.harrisonhousefoundation.org, which  provides support to individuals who are battling their addictions, regardless of financial circumstances.
