Obituary of Allen Leroy Chambers
Allen L. Chambers, 74, long time resident of Herndon, VA, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Virginia, after a battle with cancer,
Born on November 14,1942, in Sidney, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Sam Chambers and the late Ethel Chambers.
He was a cryptographer in the US Air Force, 2044 Communication Squadron, Airforce HQ, The Pentagon, attended Strayer University, was Assistant Superintendent, A. Smith Bowman Distillery, and was self-employed in agribusiness. He was active over the years in various churches, most recently, First Baptist Church, Herndon, VA. He had many interests including woodworking, knittin for charity and playing the banjo.
He is survived by wife of almost 53 years Dorothy (Dot) Chambers, his sisters-in-law Janet Altemus (Steve) and Gayle Schmidt (Paul), his sister Roxie Simms, brothers Cleo and Dennis Chambers, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on October 11, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Herndon, VA with Rev. Sean Roberds officiating. Private Burial will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery Cemetery, Herndon, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
