Obituary of George Robert Edward Forner

George Robert Edward (Rob) Forner

May 8, 1965 - October 30, 2017

Rob will be remembered for his big heart and loving spirit.  His friends could always rely on him to listen to their joys and worries and depend on him for help and moral support.

Great rock music was his passion and he loved playing it really loud in his car.  He often could be heard singing the lyrics to a Stevie Ray Vaughn song just a tinge off tune.  He was so proud of both his sons for their talented guitar artistry and vocals.

Rob loved sports and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Washington Capitals.  He spent each season harassing his cousin Jim Forner from Pittsburgh, a Penguins fan, hoping that the Capitals would finally trounce them, but to no avail.

As a child, Rob learned to play soccer while living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and later, developed a passion for playing ice hockey while living in Moscow, Russia where his father was stationed with the American Embassy.  He learned to ski on the slopes of the Julian Alps in Kranskagora, Slovenia.  Upon his return to the US, he played for the junior Capital hockey league in the Washington, D.C. area.

Rob was an estimator for American Painting Plus, a Reston based company, where he was a valued employee.  He won the respect and admiration of his work crews for his fair treatment, and the trust of his clients for his willingness to listen carefully to what it was they hoped to achieve.

He is survived by his parents, George Feldner Forner and Patricia Lee Forner of Reston, VA and his sister, Audrey McGuinness in Sydney, Australia, son Darien James Rich-Forner, (an accomplished chef) of Reston, VA and Darien’s mother, Suzanne of Jupiter Florida, his son Joshua Norman Edward Forner, (composer and lyricist) and Josh’s mother Gillian, of Melbourne, Australia.

A memorial service for Rob will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Trinity Presbyterian Church 651 Dranesville Rd. Herndon, VA.
