Obituary of Samuel E. McGinnis

For 77 years, God graced us with the presence of Sam “Bud or Grandaddy Bud” McGinnis. Those who knew him were blessed. Bud brought happiness, love, and joy to everyone that met him. He was always willing to help those around him with whatever they may have needed. From electrical work and construction to gardening and baking, Bud was a Jack of all trades who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Bud and Meemaw were always giving out their fresh vegetables, canned green beans, a variety of his famous pickles, tomato juice and even his delicious blueberry cheesecake. Bud could always be counted on to help install a fence, some ceiling fans, outdoor electrical outlets for Christmas lights, or even help build a house.

Family was the most important thing to Bud. 53 years ago, he met the love of his life. They spent every day together. He had her name tattooed on his arm, and she loved him unconditionally. Right up to the moment he was called to heaven, their love remained. It never broke or faltered. Sam and Doris, aka Bud & Meemaw, have always been the storybook definition of true love and the staple of our family.

Thanksgiving was Bud’s favorite holiday and he loved being surrounded by his large family and delicious food. He loved watching the kids play in the yard. On Easter, he was always out there assisting with the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Everyone knows he loved the hunt as much as the kids did.

Heaven has gained an amazing man. We all love him and will miss him terribly. May he rest in paradise.

Family will recieve guests, Thursday, November 9 from 5-8 p.m. at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St., Herndon, VA and again from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 10 also at Adams-Green Funeral Home.  Interment to follow at Sterling Cemetery.
