Obituary of James Henry Darby

James Henry Darby, 82, of Sterling, VA, passed away November 26, 2017. 

Born on July 29, 1935, in Goody, Kentucky, he was the son of the late John and Mae Blakenship Darby.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Edward Ollie Darby and Tillie McIntyre, and is first wife, Vonda.  He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carla LaPorta Darby, his son, James A. Darby, his daughter, Amy LaPorta, and his sister, Patricia Porter.

Jim retired 10 years ago, after working in the concrete construction industry in the Northern Virginia area.  Prior to that, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps.  Jim was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting.  Since his retirement, he spent much of his time in the outdoors with his beloved dogs, Buddy and Parker. 

Burial services will be private and a gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
