Obituary of Richard Anthony Gallagher

On November 29, 2017 Dr. Richard “Dick” Anthony Gallagher passed away at his home in Herndon, Virginia.  Dick was born July 4, 1937 in Washington D.C.  He proudly served the U.S. in the United States Air Force, where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.  He served his patients passionately during his career as a periodontist in the Air Force, in private practice, and as director of the Northern Virginia Training Center.

Dick was preceded in death by his late parents, William Edward Gallagher Sr. and Ritchie Faire (MacAtee) Gallagher. 

Dick is survived by his loving wife Naela “Nellie” Hadeed Gallagher, Brothers: John Gallagher and William Edward Gallagher Jr, Children: Jennie Gallagher Jenkins and husband Matthew Jenkins, Richard Anthony Gallagher Jr, Matthew Gallagher and wife Michele Gallagher, and Annette Gallagher Grden and husband Gregory Grden, Step-Children: Renee Hadeed and James Hadeed.  He is also survived by his grandchildren: Elizabeth Jenkins, William Gallagher, Emily Grden, Ryan Lymber, Patrick Grden, and Olivia Grden.

Dick was a lifetime Redskins fan and spent his free time with his loving wife Nellie, or enjoying time on the water as an avid fisherman.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Wednesday December 6, 2017 at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St. Herndon, VA.  A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church.  His final resting place will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
