Obituary of Teresa Jean Phelps

Teresa (Teri) Phelps, 69, a longtime resident of Sterling, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 3, 2017.

Teresa was born in Normal, Illinois on July 26, 1948, to Howard and Lois (VanZandt) Wright.  She attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison. In 1968, she married Robert Phelps at Faith Baptist Church in Monona, WI.  She was most recently employed at Washington Wealth Counsellors PC of Falls Church, VA.

Teresa was the second child in a family of five children and was little mother to younger siblings.  Her family has sweet and cherished memories of playing together and just growing up as our hearts were knitted ever so close.  Teresa loved the Lord and was assured of her salvation.  Though we have deep pain in her loss, we have the love and compassion of our Lord.  He is our Heavenly Father and brings precious comfort. 

Throughout her lifetime, Teresa, gathered many antiques which brought her joy as she decorated her home with them.  She was a gracious hostess and cook for all.  She worked tirelessly to provide for her children.  She loved visits from her grandson, Alex. The last several years, she made a concerted effort to visit her aging mother in another state to love and care for her.  Teresa was a strong believer in charity, frequently making donations to charitable organizations and to strangers in need of help.

Teresa is survived by her children, Cami Phelps & Kyla Phelps of Ashburn, VA, and Ryan Phelps of Broomfield, CO; Her partner, John Pittman of Middleburg, VA; Grandson, Alex Phelps of Ashburn, VA; Mother, Lois Jane VanZandt Wright of Rockford, IL; Sisters, Nancy (Mike) Linde of Jacksonville, FL, & Carolyn (Steve) Scherrer of Roscoe, IL; Brother, Jack Wright of Sedgewick, ME; Sister-In-Law, Belva Wright of Roscoe, IL, and many nieces, nephews, cousins.

Teresa is preceded in death by her Father, Howard D. Wright; Brother, H. Dan Wright; Nephew, Matthew Scherrer; and Robert Phelps.

There will be an 11:00 a.m. service celebrating the life of Teresa Jean Phelps on Monday, December 11, 2017, at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, Virginia  20170, phone (703) 437-1764.  Reverend David Moshier will be officiating.
