Obituary of Elbert Chee-Kwiu Chan
Elbert Chee-Kwiu Chan, of Herndon, VA, passed away on December 10, 2017 at 11:00 am. He was 57 years old.
Born on 30 October, 1960 in Winnipeg, Canada and raised in Huntsville, Alabama he was the son of the Gordon C. and Diana M. Chan. He is the beloved husband of twenty-eight years of Diane R. Chan and devoted father of Katherine (Katie) Chan, both of Herndon, VA. In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his sister Caroline C. Lawrence, brother-in-law Roland Wesley Lawrence, nephew Zachary Lawrence, and niece Jennifer Lawrence.
Elbert worked for IBM and Lockheed Martin as an Engineering Manager for thirty-two years when he retired in 2015. He graduated with a B.S. in Engineering from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from University of Michigan. He joined IBM Corporation in Owego, NY; he enjoyed a four-year overseas assignment in England; he completed his career with Lockheed Martin in Manassas, VA.
Elbert was an avid fan of the Washington Capitals Hockey team, an active tennis player, and he enjoyed skiing and travelling.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM on December 15, 2017 at Adams Green Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM on December 15, 2017 at Adams Green Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Epp officiating.
A private burial service will take place on December 16, 2017 at Fairfax Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to INOVA Fairfax Hospital in care of INOVA Transplant Center.
