Obituary of Cynthia Wells Priolet

Cynthia (Cindy) Ann Wells Priolet was born on June 10, 1970, in Blytheville, Arkansas and was baptized on June 21, 1970, in the Lutheran Church. She confirmed her baptismal vow on April 15, 1984, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and in 2010 was also baptized as an adult. 

She attended schools in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Ridgefield, Connecticut, and Ponca City, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school in 1988 after spending a year in Chimay, Belgium on the YFU Program.  She received her BA degree from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas in 1991 and her MBA from European University in Paris, France, in 1993.

She married Philippe P. Priolet, the love of her life, on September 3, 1995 in Charles City County, Virginia. They met while she was on a Study Abroad Program in Strasbourg, France. She was a loving and devoted mother to their boys Nathan and Quentin. The Priolets continued their adventures as a family, enjoying camping, traveling, and spending time at the beach.  

As a lifelong follower of Christ, she took great joy in participating in her church families, as a member of the Lutheran Church, later Southview Baptist, and finally Reston Bible Church.  She had a beautiful singing voice, which she loved to use in praise of her Lord. She also enjoyed working in the junior high youth program at Reston Bible Church.  Her passion was spending time in God’s Word. Her inspirational Caringbridge updates throughout her seven-year battle with ovarian cancer reflected her unshakeable faith and her desire to share the Gospel with others. 

Her engaging conversational skills made her a natural at her work for McKinley Advisors, where she conducted qualitative research through phone interviews. Whether by phone or in person, Cynthia always conveyed her enthusiasm about the topic at hand but more importantly about the person to whom she was speaking. Her friends will sorely miss the inimitable way she would lean in, nod her head, and make the other person in a conversation feel heard, valued, and even loved.

Throughout her treatment, she demonstrated care, concern, and gratitude for the medical professionals who work in the difficult field of cancer care and befriended her doctors, nurses, and other caregivers. 

She is survived by her husband Philippe, sons Nathan and Quentin of the home, parents Ronald O. and Karen Korte Wells of Richmond, Virginia, brothers Curt (wife Ellen) of Richmond, Virginia and Ron Jr. (wife Christina) of Lafayette, California, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

A celebration-of-life service will be held at Reston Bible Church in Sterling on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance, Reston Bible Church, or the Adler Center in Aldie, Virginia.
