Obituary of Jaylen Joshua Reed-Hernandez

Jaylen Joshua Reed-Hernandez died peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday, January 6, 2018.  At the age of 4 months and 16 days, our baby passed gently into the arms of Jesus in the early afternoon.

Jaylen is the son of Roxana Hernandez and Gabriel Reed both of Sterling, VA.  He was the answer to his mother’s prayers and his entire family waited for his birth with joyful expection.  He arrived on August 21, 2017, the day of the Eclipse.  During his brief visit on earth, Jaylen was a happy baby, he enjoyed listening to music, dancing on his mommy’s lap, cuddling with soft toys and being held close by his parents, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.  He was loved by all who met him and he will be greatly missed.  Jaylen’s life was a brief gift to us and he will live on in our hearts forever.
Jaylen’s maternal grandparents are Maria Rivas of Reston, VA;  Mario Hernandez of Reston, VA; and Lisa and Dan Townshend of Arlington, VA.   His paternal grandparents are Lynn and Randall Reed of  Washington, DC.   
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 18th, 2018.  Friends and family will be received beginning at 10 am at Adams Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St, Herndon, VA 20170.  The memorial service will begin at 11 am.  
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jaylen Reed-Hernandez’s name to the American SIDS Institute.  (www.sids.org)
