Mary's accomplishments are testament of how strong a woman she was. She was the very first woman to successfully complete a training program and deployment, in a field that was male dominated. Very professional yet easy-going. We miss you Mary, but you're in a better place now. God bless your entire family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time. Mary and I grew up together from A. P. Beutel through A&M (different degree paths, though; I'm liberal arts). My parents, Ann and Jerry Hawkins, both worked at Dow with Mr. Phillips. I have nothing but fond memories of Mary. She was such a nice, genuinely kind person. Very smart. She will be greatly missed. After reading Mary's obituary, and the comments of her friends and former colleagues, I want to say thank you for your service, Andrew, because you served right alongside Mary. Thank you for supporting her as she protected our country.

Andrew - I am so sorry for your loss. She was a great lady. I knew her when she was a young TIO and most recently, served alongside her in the warzone. It's people like her who have served our country so well that built the foundation of the great service that we have today. I was honored to know her, to serve alongside her, and know that she was always there to help, whatever the burden might be. I'll never forget her smile. God Bless you and your family during this difficult time.

Although not my date at this particular prom, that honor being Ken Felcman's,I do recall us all having a great time! I'm not the nostalgic type, and haven't really kept up with anyone from High School, but I do have very fond memories with this group of close friends. BTW, I'm on the far left with the perm-mullet sort of thing going on and I believe this was 1984.

Mary was a wonderful, caring person when I knew her in High School and imagine that continued throughout her life. Although I never kept up with her after High School, my mother always kept me up to date whenever she got the latest gossip about Mary and was aware of her employment with the CIA and it all sounded so mysterious! Condolences to the family and know your wife/mother was always appreciated and loved for the wonderful person she was.

Very sorry to hear of Mary's passing, and of her battle with leukemia. We were high school classmates and also classmates at A&M for a time, and I was always glad to run into Mary on campus. I never witnessed her have an unkind word towards anyone, and I remember hearing that she had taken a job with the CIA after graduation and it didn't surprise me as they recruit top people and she was always incredibly bright.
It's sad to lose a family member at any time, and especially when she had so much life to live after her career. Please know that there are many of us from Brazoswood who mourn Mary's passing and could not think more highly of the person we knew her to be.

The death of someone young especially hurts for the tragedy of a lifespan not fully lived. King Hezekiah expressed this at Isaiah 38:10: “In the prime of my life must I go through the gates of death and be robbed of the rest of my years?”
Yet, we are not left without hope, for God promises to do away with sickness and death and the distress they cause—permanently! Rev. 21:4 says “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
We know this will happen because God gave Jesus the authority to heal the sick and power to raise the dead. The healings and resurrections performed by Jesus demonstrate this to be a reality. (Luke 5:12, 13; John 11:39-44).
The Bible’s promise of a resurrection does not eliminate the pain of losing a loved one. But imagine the prospect of being reunited with Mary. Let the thought of being able to embrace her again make your pain easier to bear. An encouraging video “Is there Hope for the Dead?” can be found at jw.org. My sincere condolences are with you.
