Obituary of Thelma Florence Burke

Thelma Florence Burke (nee Walker)

Thelma was born on August 11, 1922 and passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on February 20, 2018.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Joseph Burke, Jr.; son, Thomas Edward Burke; grandsons, Edward Paul Hurley III and Brian Patrick Waldron.  She is survived by three daughters:  Barbara (Frank) Berzinis of Highland, IN; Kathleen (Edward) Hurley and Carol Patrick (both of Herndon, VA); seven grandchildren:  Robert (Victoria) Waldron, Ben (Christina) Waldron, Kelly Hurley, Kimberley Burke, Patrick (Mia) Hurley, Alaina Patrick, Noah Patrick and eight great-grandchildren.

Thelma loved playing golf, travel, senior exercise class, reading, card games and was devoted to family.  She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Highland, Indiana for 61 years and volunteered there as a money counter for Mass collections.

Visitation will be offered at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Virginia from 6-8 PM on Friday, February 23, 2018. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church in Highland, Indiana on Monday, February 26, 2018 with visitation at 9:30 AM in the vestibule, Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM and procession to Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Indiana.
