Obituary of Terry Lee Sayers

Terry was born in Houston, TX but lived in the Falls Church, VA area most of his life.  At 18 years old he joined the Navy and served on the aircraft carrier Ticonderoga during the Vietnam war from 1964 to 1968.  After leaving the Navy  his lived Florida and worked for a newspaper in the Hollywood, FL  As a reporter he did many jobs including being a hospital orderly, trash collector and riding with the police and emergency services while doing research for the paper.
Although he was a proposal manager working on government contracts, in his spare time he had a country western band, “Terry and the Pirates”   that played in many small clubs in the tri state area.
He loved to read all kinds of books, especially science fiction and he also enjoyed playing computer games.
He loved this country and had a soft spot for all veterans.
His sense of humor and quick wit could charm mostly everyone.  It certainly captured his wife Joan’s heart and they have been married since 1997.  They were never blessed with children but have to “goofy” cats, Purcy and Watson.

Terry is survived by his wife Joan, brothers Larry Demarest (Maria) and Clivton Sayers, nephews Lawrence and Christopher Demarest.  Not by blood but by the heart, nephew and nieces, Jeff Killion (Mary), Mary Susanne Kane (Andy), Sandy Reckert-Reusing (John), Amy McDougall (Bill) and Jean Reckert-Turrini (Mark).
