Obituary of Margaret Nancy Lenahan

On Thursday, March 15, 2018, Margaret “Nancy” Lenahan passed away at her home in Reston, VA. She was the loving mother of Jean Lenahan McCoy and doting grandmother of Paul McCoy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Lenahan, and sisters, Ruth Kochan and Agnes Johnson.


Nancy was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on April 20, 1921. She was the youngest child of Charles and Margaret Johnson. After graduating from nursing school, Nancy was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps where she received the World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and Army Occupation Medal (Japan). She later served as a nurse in the U.S. Air Force, rising to the rank of Major.

 

Nancy was a long-time resident of New Windsor, New York, where she retired as a Registered Nurse at the Cadet Hospital, U.S. Military Academy at West Point. She was a life-long member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

A funeral service will be held at Ft. Myer Old Post Chapel in Arlington, Virginia on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 1 PM.  Inurnment with military honors to follow at Arlington National Cemetery. Guests attending should enter through the Hatfield Gate off of 2nd Street South if you do not hold a military ID and arrive at the chapel 45 minutes prior to the scheduled service time.
