My prayers go out to Pam and Ashley Hardin regarding the loss of John. I just learned of this today and I am deeply saddened. John was a quiet but friendly man who loved his family. The Stewart family sends our deepest condolences.

John was a wonderful man. He was a great father, and husband and very dedicated. He loved this great country and served in honor. He gave service to the federal government. He is now with the Lord and others who have passed before him.
Rest in peace John. You will be missed and never forgotten.

Uncle John was a great man, and I am so proud to call him family. His passion for the military, history, and music was a blessing to those around him, and was certainly a blessing to me. I have many fond memories of Uncle John, as do we all, and those things will not be forgotten. I am praying for Aunt Pam and Ashley through these hard times, and I hope you both know that we love you dearly, just as we loved and continue to love Uncle John.

So incredibly saddened at the passing of Uncle John. He demonstrated such strong love and devotion to everyone around him, especially his family, and his avid patriotism was a great inspiration. His love reaches us even still. I will always remember spending time together over the holidays, watching football together, learning about history from him, and playing with his collection of model soldiers growing up. We will miss him very much and will treasure our memories with him. Pam and Ashley, we send our love during this time and always. You both mean so much to us. Know that we are praying for you and thinking of you often, as well as all of his family in North Carolina.
Much love,
Kyle and Mary Joyce

John was a close friend for 25 years, and stayed in touch with me throughout those years, trading emails, letters, and books. It is hard to believe he is gone. We occasionally took vacation leave and went to the Marine Corps Museum, the Ford's Theater Museum, or similar museums and historic sites in D.C. Those days playing "hooky" with him were very happy memories. He sent books to our farm for several years, until eventually we had an entire large room full of them, a veritable library of books covering thirty different subjects, but mostly history books. He was a patriot, a solid citizen, and a loyal friend to many people. It was a privilege to have known him, and I grieve his loss to my life and the lives of his family members. I and other friends visited him in the hospital during the last six months, each time being impressed with his determination to make a full recovery, and during the last two visits he seemed like his old self, and was very much looking forward to returning home. My condolences to his loved ones, especially his wife and daughter, Pam and Ashley Hardin, and John Hardin Sr. and Jackie Hardin, his parents, all of whom he often spoke about with great affection. (I remember Ashley's baby shower like it was yesterday, even though it was two decades ago, and I remember how excited John was about her arrival.) After my parents died, John consoled me by wishing me the strength to march forward in life, telling me that it was the best way to honor them. I will make that same wish for John's loved ones here.

Our hearts are broken over John’s passing. He was a good man, who loved his family and his country. He was a wonderful brother-in-law and a devoted Uncle to his two nephews, Kyle and Shane, and his niece, Katelyn. We will all miss him dearly, but will continue to be inspired by his strength, gentle heart, and true kindness. God Bless you, Pam, Ashley, and all of his dear family in Kings Mountain. We love you all. Jim and Kim

It was an honour and a privilege to know John. I met him through brucewillis.com and being a writer myself, we connected. Over the years, I have gotten to know his family, albeit at a distance, and followed his struggles and accomplishments. I will miss him greatly. Take care Pam and Ashley.
