Obituary of Charlotte Maria Dobrai

Charlotte Maria Dobrai; April 11, 2018 – Age 86

Charlotte Dobrai, 86, of Sterling Virginia, passed away April 11th 2018 at Potomac Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.

Charlotte was born in Eger, Hungary to Ferenc (Frank) Belteky and Simon Maria Magdolna on January 25^th 1932.  Charlotte, orphaned during WWII, moved to Esztergom, Hungary after she married Louis L. Dobrai on September 15, 1956. She worked as an accountant in Esztergom and was well liked by everyone.  Shortly after they married, the Hungarian revolution broke out, at which time Louis immigrated to the USA, not knowing Charlotte was expecting their first child.  Charlotte remained in Esztergom, raising her daughter Lottie Maria Dobrai and caring for Louis’ parents.  Charlotte and Lottie were granted approval by the Hungarian-communist government, to immigrate to the USA after applying for six years. Louis, Charlotte, and Lottie were very proud to become citizens of the United States of America shortly after.  Charlotte and Louis had two additional children; Thomas Dobrai on January 25, 1964, and Daniel Dobrai on November 3, 1970. Charlotte and Louis lived in Arlington, VA later moving to Culpeper, VA.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her daughter Lottie, and her husband Louis.  She is survived by her two children Thomas, and Daniel, her grandchildren by Daniel and Daisy Dobrai; Kenneth, Nathan, Samantha, and her estranged grandchildren by Thomas; William, Jacob, Shannon, and Christopher.

A private funeral service will be held at Adams-Green Funeral Home on Saturday April 14, 2018. She will be laid to rest with Louis and Lottie, at Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
