Obituary of Diane Ellen Dorsett

Diane Ellen Dorsett of Reston, VA and Charlotte, NC, passed away on April 13th, 2018. Diane was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 14th, 1954 to Edward and Helen (Albright) Dunn. She grew up in the San Fernando Valley in Southern California and graduated from El Camino Real High School in 1972. She worked in the Los Angeles area for many years before she was set up on a blind date by her aunt and uncle, Barbara and Russell "Butch" Hulsing with a dashing young naval officer. She soon married Jack Dorsett and set off on a life traveling the world. She lived with her family in many places throughout the world, from London, England to Manama, Bahrain, both coasts of the United States, and Oahu, Hawai`i; her three loving children were born in San Diego, CA (Sarah), Bethesda, MD (Maureen), and Naples, Italy (David). Diane was a creative person and loved working with flowers. Before retiring in 2013, she owned a flower shop in Northern Virginia with her daughter, Maureen. Diane was known for her optimism, and her love of life brought a smile to everyone she met. There is only one like her - she was the best wife, mother, daughter, aunt, and friend the world has ever known. Diane will be forever remember by her husband of 38 years, VADM (Ret) Jack Dorsett and their children, Sarah, Maureen, and David (Mandy), by her mother Helen Dunn, and by her sister and brothers Susan (Rob) Stiff, John (Trish) Dunn, and Edward Dunn, she was loved by her numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family, and friends she met while living abroad and traveling the world. A Mass will be celebrated in memory of Diane at 1100 on Thursday April 19, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 750 Peachtree St., Herndon, VA. Internment at Arlington National Cemetery will occur at a future date. In lieu of flowers, those who do desire may make memorial donations in memory of Diane to the Fisher House, www.fisherhouse.org.
