Obituary of Charles Fenton Rice, Jr.

On Thursday, April 12, 2018, Charles Fenton Rice, Jr., beloved husband of Lois B. Rice, died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of his 94th birthday.  He was a loving father to three children: Cynthia Rice Elliott (Doug), Charles F. Rice III (Sandy) and Kenneth E. Rice.  He was blessed with three grandchildren:  Rebecca M. Rice, Alexander C. Rice (Rahab) and Carolyn Rice, and two great grandchildren Caecilia A. Rice and Thomas W. Rice. 

Charlie Rice had a great life.  He was happily married for 67 years, served in World War II with the Navy and Marine Corps, and worked 30 years as an acoustical, electrical and aerospace engineer with the federal government.  He culminated his federal career with NASA in 1978. 

A viewing will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 19, at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Virginia.  He will be interred at Flint Hill Cemetery, Vienna, Virginia, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 21, with a memorial service and reception to immediately follow at 11:30 AM at Floris United Methodist Church, Herndon, Virginia.
