I was so sad to get the news from Jennifer Young of John's passing. He was a very special person and both my husband and I thought so much of him. He helped me through so many barriers with my worker's comp case and genuinely cared about us.. Please know that you have my sincere sympathy during this difficult time. I know that John and my husband, Tom, are up there in Heaven together talking and having a lot of good times like they did here on earth. God bless.

John Delaney was a leader - not in the sense of one bearing a flag at the front of his troups. Rather, he taught those of us toiling in the trenches to value "scut work" (his phrase for the behind-the-scenes effort necessary to implement great plans), John never shied from the scut work that he tackled at Wheeling. He made a lasting impression.

I vividly recall John from our freshman year together at Wheeling Jesuit College. What I remember most is that in all the classes we had together he raised his hand to ask questions more than anyone. My initial reaction was to wonder, "What's up with all these questions?" I soon discovered that all those questions were evidence of great curiosity, a thirst for learning, a joy of expressing himself, and a comfort level with not knowing something. He became a hero to me and I had a chance to share that with him. John called me regarding fundraising for our classes' 50th reunion, which gave me the opportunity to share with him my appreciation for what his "hand raising" taught me about being successful. My sincere condolences to Mary and all of John's family on the loss of a great person.

Little Mary,
My heart is broken for you. The relationship you two shared, from the moment you met, was always "the gold standard" for me, but one I never quite achieved. You guys set the bar "too high".
I can't imagine the pain of loss that you must be experiencing. Knowing that he was a faithful, loving husband, a great father, and a good and caring man can provide some comfort but never replace his voice, his wit or the joy he brought to those who came in contact with him.
The generosity with his time, talent and funds in helping Tim should have gotten him a few hundred extra points at the Pearly Gates, but I am sure that was only one case in thousands where his charitable heart "overflowed". Take solace in the fact that he was a good man who led a good life and will never be forgotten by those who knew him.
I wish I could be there to grieve with you but my daughter is flying in from LA this week and we have irreversible plans. I will pray for you and John but I am sure he is firmly settled in, somewhere close to THE BIG GUY. Love and WONDERFUL memories, Tom

I want to extend my condolences to Mr. Delaney's family. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers every day.
I did not know Mr. Delaney for very long; however, he has made an indelible impact on my life. I was lucky indeed to have had the great fortune to have worked for such an amazing man. I am very sorry that my work schedule prevents me from attending his service.
I wish you all the very best as each of you deal with your pain and sorrow.
Be well,
Linda

John Delaney was an amazing Father, Husband and Human Being. He continues to be an inspiration and role model for me and everyone who knew him. He is beloved by so many outside of his immediate family and will be greatly missed. There is a giant void in my family's life with his departure......yet there is an even larger holy presence added to heaven the day he arrived. I pray I am worthy to see him again! I can only hope to be half the Father, Husband and Human Being he was.
Much love! You are and will always be My Sunshine!

I’m so sorry for your recent loss. My deepest condolences to your family. Death of a loved one is never easy to endure, but you don’t have to go through it alone. You can always find comfort in our God of tender mercy Jehovah, as found at 2 Corinthians 1:3,4. May you also find comfort in the thought brought out in John 5:28,29, of being reunited with John on a paradise Earth.
