Obituary of Suzanne Mary Polkowske
Suzanne “Chatty” Polkowske, former
Captain for the United States Air
Force, passed away peacefully on
Wednesday, May 16 at the graceful
age of 66, surrounded by her loving friends
and family.
Born June 9, 1951 in Rutherford, NJ, to
Gabriella and Mario Corti, she is survived
by her son, Nicholas Allen Polkowske, daughter Alexandra
Leah Polkowske, sister Adrienne Corti,
nephews Loren Sciurba and Christopher
Sciurba and spouses.
Suzanne was always a teacher and a
student. Completing her B.A. in
Communications in 1973, from Emerson
College and later earning a Masters in
Communications from University of
Arizona in 1975, she joined the United
States Air Force. Serving her country
constructively as a U.S. Air Force
Captain and Aircraft Maintenance
Officer, she received the highest
accolades of AF training Ribbon,
AF overseas Ribbon, AF Outstanding
Unit Award, AF Longevity and Service
Award Ribbon and AF Accommodation
Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, where she
left her post at Langley Air Force Base in 1985.
Aside from her robust professional life,
Suzanne was a devoted Mother to
Nicholas and Alexandra, raising them in
Leesburg, VA, instilling upon them her
love for life, passion for travel, purity,
and humble nature and peacefulness.
An earthly angel, with a selfless spirit,
she was truly a special person, embracing
life as an active member of Book Clubs
around the Washington and Northern
Virginia areas, always refining her love
for cooking, wine and crafting. She touched
the lives of all that she met and now has
regained her wings -- flying high and dancing
gleefully around everyone she so deeply cared for.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at
The Atrium at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens --
Vienna, Virginia – June 7, 5-9pm.
