Obituary of Mary Ellen Gurganus

Mary Gurganus, 81, of Sterling, VA, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, May 23, 2018 at 6 am.

Mary was involved in community service with boys little league football and baseball auxiliary.  She coached girls basketball and softball teams.  She also played on women’s softball and basketball teams.  She was always very supportive of the youth.

Born on January 18, 1937 in Punta Gorda, FL she was the daughter of the late Grover and Ellen Phillips.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers GC, Bobby and Cecil and her sisters Juanita, Bernice and Nancy.

She is survived by her husband Donnie Gurganus, her son Randy Gurganus and his wife Cathy Palmer, her daughter Wendy Nitta, brother Hedrick Phillips, sister Donna Brown, grandson Ukia Nitta, step-granddaughter Kristin Logsdon, step-grandson Blair Machado and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Adams Green Funeral Home.
