I’m so sorry for your recent loss. My deepest condolences to your family. Death of a loved one is never easy to endure, but you don’t have to go through it alone. You can always find comfort in our God of tender mercy Jehovah, as found at 2 Corinthians 1:3,4. Dr. Calbert was a great man. He was well respected and honored. I remember him as a family man, and one who was passionate about his faith - wanting God’s best in the community. My prayers of comfort, strength, peace and healing go to his wonderful family, who are also making a difference in this world for good. He has fought the good fight, he has finished the race, he has kept the faith - 2 Timothy 4:7.

Although I never worked directly for Dr. Calbert, I have been at the National Science Foundation for 27 years and, like so many of you, I knew of his scholarship and leadership at this important federal agency.
I remember Dr. Calbert's natural humility (Lord knows he had every good reason to thump his chest, but never did). But what I will always personally recall was his genuine warmth and kindness. He was in every respect a wonderful human being. Without question, his was a life well led.
