I used to work at a daycare, that his daughters went to.
I want to let the family know, how sorry I was, when I just heard about their loss... As you continue to adjust to the cards life has dealt you, please know I have prayed for your continued peace, strength and comfort.
Be blessed.

The death of a loved one brings great sadness and emptiness into our lives. I didn't know your dear one, Scott personally, but I do know that we are never prepared for such a loss. The true comfort only comes from our Creator and Heavenly Father because he is the only one that can put an end to all the suffering, sickness and even our worst enemy, death. That is exactly what he has already promised. The Bible calls him the Almighty but also our Father (Matthew 6:9). He will keep the promise of restoring the Earth to a paradise and in the near future bring back to life our loved ones who have died by means of a resurrection on the restored paradise Earth (Acts 24:15)

We were so privileged to have Scott as our Men’s Group Leader for our Monday night men’s group. Scott was truly given a gift by Jesus. He found a way to create a non-judgmental, trusting, caring environment for the guys in our group to develop a rapport and relationship with each other despite all the fears, anxieties, guilt, or whatever else we each independently carried with us. He knew all these “weights” were detrimental to our spiritual and faith connections with Jesus, so as always he led by example and was the first to lay down his story and history. Slowly, one by one, we all began to take off our armor and provide our own stories within the group. I didn’t realize it then, but I do now, we were all seeing the Holy Spirit work through Scott as an instrument and tool of God’s will. I saw men, including myself, who were so apprehensive prior suddenly open themselves and drop their “weights” to strengthen their faith, face their demons, and connect with Jesus to let Him work in their lives. It was truly cathartic and infectious. We started to realize we could lean on each other also as a community of men, and although I can’t speak for everyone I would often leave the meeting being spiritually re-invigorated and looking forward to our next meeting. Scott never complained, grumbled, or harbored any ill feelings towards anyone. He was always there to talk to no matter what, and he gave you guidance with wisdom. It’s the reason we all knew him as “The Doctor!” We knew he was suffering from cancer for some time, but whenever you would ask him how he was doing he would immediately say he was doing great and was more concerned about how everything was going in your life with his questions to you such as “How’s your wife doing?”, “How are the kids?”, “How was your weekend?” He led by example and carried a strength of faith we all were desiring to possess ourselves. If this loving relationship with Jesus was what gave Scott his endurance, commitment, morality, and selflessness, then we all wanted it too! We all know now just how special Scott and this connection he fostered was, and we’re all unwilling to give it up. We’re going to continue to foster this connection and faith and share it with others out there as we’re all broken in some way, and this is what Jesus calls us to do. My prayers and love go out to Scott, his loved ones, family, and friends as I know we’re all grieving his loss. I know heaven gained an angel, and he’s no longer suffering any pain and has the joy of being with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit directly. We love you Scott, and we look forward to when we see you again!

I worked with Scott some years ago. I was greatly saddened to hear of his passing. I wanted to write to let his family know how kind, thoughtful, smart and hardworking he was during the time we worked together. I spent time thinking about our interactions through some difficult work situations. Bottom line, Scott never let anyone down, in fact he always bolstered us up. Our work would have not been as good without him. He was a special and wonderful man. God bless you during this difficult time and thank you for sharing Scott with us.

There are few people that have made such an impression on me as Scott Jones. Anyone who had met Scott would surely say the same. Scott made very purposeful choices in how he wanted to live his life. He didn’t just study Christian values, he made it a daily practice of how to be inclusive … how to reach out … how to bring people together in community. He was a one-man welcome wagon. When our older son was struggling, Scott stepped into his life as a friend and a role model. Even through his own illness, he made it a point to continue to check in. When I needed a path back to my faith, it was Scott who was there with an open invitation. We were newer friends, so I am sad we didn’t get to spend more time together. But often the best lessons are learned from relationships. So, I am blessed for having known Scott. I’ll never be as good as he was at connecting with people, but he will forever be my model for that. Our thoughts and prayers are with Janine, their daughters Nichole and Marissa and extended family. Until we meet again.

My heart and prayers go out to Scott’s entire family. I was privileged to know Scott as another 4-H parent with the heart and fortitude to get done all the necessary behind-the-scenes things it takes to keep your kids going in 4-H clubs today. Whether it be loading/unloading gear or friendly conversation, Scott was obvious that Scott treasured time with family first. It shows in the faith and family legacy his daughters continue to carry. It should bring great comfort to Christians to know that we will again see and talk with Scott when we are either called home one day ourselves or when Christ returns. Blessings and peace to Janine, Nichole, Marissa, and the rest of the family.

Scott was truly one of the most selfless people I’ve ever met. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was a true friend to all of us and will be leaving a hole in our hearts. He taught us all how we should act towards one another. I’m so happy he found God and has let God’s love shine through him to all who knew him. We’ll miss his laugh, his smile, and his sense of humor. But most of all we’ll simply miss Scott. We love him and his family and will continue to hold them tight. May God bless them.
