I missed Karen's Christmas card this past holiday and so I went searching on the Internet. I was upset to learn she had passed away last year. I had known Karen since we were freshmen at Radford and we graduated together. 45 years. We continued to keep in touch when I moved to Northern VA and then back home to southeastern VA. We didn't communicate as much in recent years but for occasional anticipated birthday and Christmas cards. She will be truly missed. My thoughts and prayers go to her family.

Karen was a great person and was always there to help you. She made Manassas a fun place to work. How she did that with George and Tim being there I'll never know but she did! I will certainly miss her.

I am truly saddened to hear of Karen's death. She had the heart of gold and was truly blessed. I will miss the yearly "Happy Birthday" wishes she would send, even after her transferring to the NCR. I have nothing but fond memories of her. Karen lives on through everyone that she touched. God Bless you Karen!

I was on vacation when I heard the news. My thoughts and prayer are with the family. I have been trying to come up with the words but Karen knew I wasn’t one to put my feelings in words. I will miss Karen deeply, she was my mentor, travel buddy and dearest friend (which I don’t have many of). May she Rest In Peace.

I was sadden to hear of Karen's passing. Such a sweet, caring, generous, thoughtful soul will be missed greatly. I am so glad that my first impressions of Karen were "partially" wrong. When I first met and starting working with Karen in Air and Marine HQs, I initially got the impression she was a stern, no nonsense, at times intimidating little bundle of a thing. It didn't take long to realize that she was all those things (in a good way) when it came to work, but sit in her office in DC or out in Manassas to just talk and I found an engaging, friendly and helpful coworker and friend ... and if you weren't careful, you could be there for some time! Karen will be remembered by many and missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

Karen was a friend and mentor. First as a budget officer, and then when I was hired to "replace" her as the SMSS when she retired. She had such a wealth of knowledge and was eager to share it. I was so hopeful that she would have a long and fulfilling retirement. The last time I spoke with her, she said she was finally relaxing and enjoying her time. Rest in Peace Karen.

Karen always amazed me. She shouldered such awesome responsibility in her job as Budget Director, but was never was too busy to cheerfully explain and help anyone. A special lady indeed. May she enjoy eternal rest in heaven.

Karen, Oh how I missed you so much when you left HQ and even though you where just a short drive away in VA it seemed so far away and now your in Heaven. I remember the first job you gave me, posting invoices into the CARMAC. That pile was a least 3 feet high. I remember that time you had shingles and you had the Home Shopping Network on speed dial. You had things showing up at your door step for months and no clue what you had ordered. You use to cover for me when I slept under my desk when I was pregnant with Stevie. That Las Vegas trip when we all went to see Wayne Newton and the Chippendales (I still have that picture). All those talks that we would have in the office. You never forgot my kids birthday's. Karen you were a great friend and mentor and I will cherish all those memory's, I will miss you so much.

Karen was awesome! She always found a way to get things done. Tim and I were so very lucky to have “convinced” her to stay with AMO and go out to Manassas instead of retiring. I know she enjoyed being there with us and getting out of DC. She was great to work with and I enjoyed the nine years we worked together from HQ to Manassas. She will not be forgotten and we will miss her greatly!

So sad to hear of Karen's passing. She was my supervisor for 6 years and had a profound impact on my career within CBP. I learned a great deal under her guidance and will always be thankful that she hired me to work for AMO. I admired her dedication; always came in early and stayed late. Always available to help whether she was on leave, ill or even once she was retired. She was a great resource for all things budget and was always willing to lend an ear to what ever issue you may be having; professionally or personally. My daughter enjoyed visiting the office because she could talk to Karen for hours and snack on the M&M's that Karen kept stocked. Although she retired last year we remained in contact and I will miss her.

Karen was personally and professionally as good a person as I can think of. She was always there to share thoughts with or be a sympathetic ear when needed. Speaking on behalf of George and myself, she was the first person we recruited to Manassas because we knew what a tremendous asset she would be in our world. As a result, she was nice enough to take a professional step back and became an integral part of everything we did. I will always be grateful and will continue to think of her often. May God welcome her with open arms.

Karen will never be forgotten, I am heart broken to hear of her passing. Karen had a huge role in my AMO budget career. She always had the time for you, her knowledge and memory was remarkable. She loved to talk to everyone, she made you feel like you were part of the team and part of the AMO family. RIP my friend.
