I briefly knew Richard during some of his assignments here in Ottawa. A very smart and very kind man. Condoleances to all his family members. May God bless his soul.
Richard Schmidt was a brilliant man. He came to teach within Department of National Defence and impressed 75 level 1 managers including the Asst Deputy Minister. We have kept in touch with him since 2003 - and i encouraged him to write a book this is so sad as he was so kind and had young children. I will miss Richard. We worked together writing the IEEE 1220 SE standard. He was a brilliant man and contributed much to the defense of this country. I hope you will take comfort in the knowledge of his legacy.
