Robert Matthew Carroll

October 31, 1948 - July 8, 2018

Bob was born on October 31, 1948, to Robert Edward Carroll and Kathryn Scarper Carroll in Arlington, Virginia.  He graduated from Lee High School in 1967 and from Lenoir Rhyne University, Hickory, North Carolina in 1971, majoring in history and education.  He worked for Giant Food Inc. for 38 years and retired in 2010.

Bob joined St. Mark’s as a child in the mid-fifties where he was baptized and confirmed.  On September 3, 1983 he married Mary Lou (Erdmann) Kosciusko.  His son, Kenneth Robert (Robby), was born on September 27, 1986.

Bob enjoyed playing golf with his father, doing crossword puzzles, and had a love of trivia, especially when watching the television show Jeopardy.  He loved to visit the Outer Banks of North Carolina where he camped and fished and enjoyed travelling down the Blue Ridge Parkway.  He was an avid motorcyclist with his brother, Steven, and friends, Barry, Bill and Alan.  He enjoyed watching golf on television and cheered for the Orioles and Redskins.

He loved both classical music and rock and roll.  It pleased him to watch his favorite group, The Moody Blues, be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Class of 2018.

Bob would have wanted to say a special thank you to his wonderful visiting nurse, Glenda, who was very important to him and his family during the many months of his illness.
