Obituary of Norman Daniel Simms II

Our beloved Norman Daniel Simms II was born in Fairfax Va. Son of Lillie Ann Ellis and the late Norman D. Simms, Jr and the precious God-Son to Virginia Wagstaff. He answered the call of the Lord and quietly took his flight to eternal rest on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia.

Norman grew up in Manassas Virginia and graduated from Stonewall Jackson Highschool. He moved from Manassas to the Sterling Virginia area but always remained close to his Manassas childhood friends and loved them dearly.

Just celebrating 31 years of marriage, Norman and Carleen Y. Makel (Simms) were united in Holy Matrimony on June 25, 1987.  Norman was blessed with three sons; Alan Simms (Sara), Damien Simms, Keenen Lansdown (Altaira) and a daughter; Leticia Simms (Robert).

He had an amazing bond with his twelve grandchildren, especially Angelina, Aaliyah and Alyssa.  Every weekend having sleepovers with the grandbabies, his home was always full of children laughing.

His memory will forever by cherished by his Mother; Lillie Ellis and Mother and Father-in-law; Ervine and Garland Makel, his brother; Carlos Simms and sister; Cheryl DeSoto, and his three brothers-in-laws; David DeSoto, Troy Makel and Timothy Makel, along with his fifteen nieces and nephews. 

Norman had a very special relationship with his four nieces; Shante Simms, Amber DeSoto, Nia DeSoto and Jasmine DeSoto, and his nephew Tommy Jackson Jr.

Throughout the neighborhood, forever remembered as Uncle Norman, Pops, or most famous of them all, “STORMIN NORMAN.” We will always hold dear fond memories of all the weekend cookouts, holidays, birthday parties and super bowl parties he had for his friends and family.

If you met Norman more than once, you were forever family and always invited into his home.
