Joy truly showed Jesus love to everyone regarding race, age or position. She was a real friend to every person she became in contact with. Always with a sweet smile and a warm hug! She was always running and barely spend time in her house during the day. And if she was home she was on her computer working on projects or planning dinners for community members :)
Ever since I met Joy in 2014 because we became her next door neighbors, she was always a loving and caring person. Anything she had at her house, (apples, cookies, oranges, ice cream, candies, frozen meat) she gave it to me for my kids! She always blessed us with her generosity and love. She prayed when we needed extra help. She helped pack up lunch (sandwiches) for the homeless. I remember seeing her do it with such care and great attitude. Always double checking everything was right. I miss Joyce and I'm sure everyone that knew her for a longer period than I did, miss her too.
Joyce, you are now resting. Thank you for everything you did for me and my family. Will always love you.

Joyce Ann Trickett was incredible lady of tremendous inspiration to me and many other struggling human beings grasping to deal with the needs of many starving and needy neighbors who somehow needed some kind of assistance in addition to government help. Pooling together like minded people with limited resources over the years she became a strong voice in providing hundreds of miracles on short notice to many in need. She raised a standard that others could heed at great sacrifice in order to benefit many. She was always gracious but persistant in expecting more from those in a position to give and always attentive to those who needed food or clothing. And she was forever grateful for the opportunity and humble about what she was attempting to accomplish for the greater good. As supervisor for Sterling district in Loudoun I was witness to her devotion and selflessness from 2000 to 2015.

Joy Trickett perceived volunteering as something she needed to do. “It is very scriptural,” she says, “we are supposed to help those who struggle to help themselves.” She asks that each of us grow closer to our Lord’s call, to give freely of our love and compassion to our brothers and sisters in need. She takes great pleasure in witnessing young people volunteer and always asks to know their age and where they go to school or if she knows their parents. She mentors folks about acknowledging God’s time versus our time and how best to express God’s love and faithfulness to others.
Her favorite scripture is “Jesus said, for I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in… Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me” [Matthew 25:35-40]. This is truly a creed to live by, and Joy Trickett has certainly done that.
Some years ago a county reporter asked Joy, "When do you plan to retire from volunteering?" Joy replied, "People should work until the end. I have a few years to go yet."
Joy Trickett’s life comprised many achievements. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even a book would not be enough to capture all of Trickett’s accomplishments and wonderful works. God bless her and we will not soon forget her.
