Toni Ann Cifala Spunar

On Sunday, August 19, 2018, Toni Ann Cifala Spunar of Cambridge, MD. Beloved mom of Laurette Cifala and Ed Sciullo (Julie); proud grandmother of Matthew, Christian, Ella, Nathan, Madeline and Rachel; devoted daughter of Dr. John A. and Laura C. Amalfitano Cifala (deceased), sister of John Cifala (Suneil), Jo Ann Sciretta (Fred), Michael Cifala (Bonnie), Steven Cifala (Dana) and Celeste Roy (Rene), and aunt to several adoring nieces and nephews.

Toni Ann was born in Portland, ME and raised in Arlington, VA. She was the eldest of six children amidst a large, Italian family. The daughter of a doctor and a nurse, she followed in their compassionate healer footsteps, attending the Catholic University of America, where she became a Registered Nurse and then earned her Masters Degree in Forensic Nursing. Her 35-year career included work at Fairfax (Virginia) Hospital, Mt. Vernon (Virginia) Hospital, private practice, and the Visiting Nurse Association, where she spent years as a sympathetic, dedicated and skilled mental health therapist. In the latter part of her career, Toni Ann was dedicated to mental health issues facing the elderly. Toni Ann’s greatest joy were her children and her grandchildren, and she loved the ocean, the mountains, the holidays, cooking and entertaining, photography, music, her pets and gardening. Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 25, from 10 AM until a service to begin at 11 AM at ADAMS-GREEN Funeral Home 721 Elden St. Herndon, VA. Burial immediatley after services at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon, VA.  Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Wilson Disease Association at www.wilsonsdisease.org
