Obituary of Katherine H. Webb

Katherine Hargett Webb passed away peacefully in the morning on August 30, 2018, at Adler Care hospice in Aldie, VA, after battling ovarian cancer for almost two years.

We have always celebrated Kathy's birthday on Thanksgiving Day, because she was born on that day, which happened to be November 25^th in 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky.  Soon her family moved to Springfield, Ohio, where she spent most of her pre-teen years.  For two years she attended Bethany School for Girls, in Cincinnati, with Episcopal nuns for teachers.  Another key formative experience was attending and boarding at Stuart Hall, Staunton, Virginia, where she completed high school and made some life-long friends.

She attended Temple University, Philadelphia, and graduated with honors in speech therapy, which she continued to study at Northwestern University, earning a Masters degree.

She had a successful career as a speech therapist, helping many children and adults in a variety of settings—schools in the Chicago area, the speech clinic at the University of Michigan, and Arlington Traditional School.  After retiring from the latter, she became an active supporter of the school they sponsor in Uganda, the Arlington Academy of Hope. She did a mission trip there in 2015.

She belonged to Floris United Methodist Church, volunteered with their Sunday school and ESL programs, and formed many friendships that sustained her in recent years.

She is survived by her brother Bill, her sister Pam, Steven (her husband of 48 years), their four children—Lisa Schroder and Greg, Alan and Chris Webb—and ten grandchildren.

She lived and loved with passion, and the joy she shared in the world will live on.

A visitation will be held, September 10 from 6-8PM at Floris United Methodist Church, Frying Pan Rd., Herndon, VA.

The memorial service celebrating her life will be at 10AM on September 11^th, at Floris United Methodist Church, on Frying Pan Rd., Herndon VA.
