I'm saddened to learn of Fred's passing. I was one his students, graduating in '97. We stopped in to visit a few years back, and I'm so glad we did. God bless, Fred.

I've known Fred for 19 years. I am so saddened by his passing. He was always caring and compassionate, offering solutions for health and wellness, and living my best life. Fred lived his best life, and he will be missed by me and all who crossed his path.

Fred was a good and caring man! He was one of my professors at George Mason University, and he truly cared about his family, students, and past students! God Bless Fred, and his family!

I met Dr. Schack at GMU. I was a paying for college on my own penny, nickel, and dime. Fred use to put textbooks in the library for me so I could check them out instead of buy. There were times I had to purchase a book but Fred would tell me it was a book that I'd use when I got a job. I didn't have a car so Fred let me use his bike. He would sign me up for observations that were only a bike ride away from Mason. He didn't have to do that but was very kind to do so. I can't say that Fred and I always saw eye to eye but we had a mutual respect that turned into a professional friendship. When I received an award Fred was one of my GMU professors that were still around. I wrote him an email and he responded with great enthusiasm and congratulations. It made me feel on top of the world. Bless you, Dr. Schack for your kindness, knowledge, and dedication.

Dear Ellen and Family,
Jim and I are heart broken over your loss of your beloved husband and father. Though we have so great a hope the immediate sadness and sorrow may feel over whelming at times. We are praying for your comfort, strength and peace as you walk through this most difficult of challenges. May the comfort of friends, family and especially the God who now holds both you and more tangibly Fred in His loving embrace be your strength and comfort throughout this life as you find your way through.
I will always remember Fred by his very first act of kindness to me when I came to the first non Catholic church service of my life. I came to McLean Bible and didn't know whether to genuflect or just sit down and Fred must have noticed my discomfort for he popped right out of his seat and gently guided me to sit down in his seat. He then helped me get my coat off without a word and no fanfare... and a humble smile as if to say...welcome and we have you covered. He then took a seat behind me as there was no room next to me. It was a small but kind and so very welcome gesture to a girl right out of Kansas who had no clue of what I was doing. :) It meant so much to me. Instead of feeling on the outskirts in a strange environment I felt tucked right in the middle of everyone with kindness shown and I felt safe. It allowed me to hear the message and know instantly that I was in a very good place. My hunger for all things God opened up and the rest is history as they say. Fred will always shine on in my heart even though knowing him he never thought twice of what he did. One day I will let him know what a difference he made in my day that first Sunday in January 1983.
Much love to you all,
Diana Davidson
