I had the honor of meeting Maryann and Joel (Mom-Mom and Poppy) through their granddaughter, Caitlyn.
I didn’t know Mom-Mom long, but in the time I had with her, she brought me in as one of the family and always made sure I was happy, healthy, and doing the best I could. When I had surgery, Mom-Mom was calling Caitlyn a few hours after to make sure I was ok. When there was a tornado alert, she called Caitlyn to make sure we were ALL safe. When someone wasn’t a fan of me personally, Mom-Mom took my side and defended me. From the moment we met, she always made me feel special and important. She radiated positivity and even on my worst days, seeing Mom-Mom turned everything around. She showed everyone around her that they mattered and that they were loved (even if it was just some kid that was friend’s with her granddaughter).
I’ll truly never forget the kindness that Mom-Mom showed be and I hope one day that I’m able to show others the love that she showed me.

Joel and family, please accept our condolences and heartfelt grief at the loss of such a wonderful woman and person. We met Joel and Maryann in Prague and learned their life story. How she loved her family! We’re still in awe at how Maryann was an adventurer and kept up with the best of us. What a true inspiration! Will miss seeing her posts, and will keep you all in our prayers. Hugs and kisses, Kevin & Sherri

Maryanne was our son Nicks mother-in-law. She was a wonderful and caring mother-in-law for our son. She was an amazing person, she always thought about others. She had nice things to say about everyone. Love was her byword, she spread it and made it grow. We must continue her legacy, for family and friends. We will miss her cheerful face and presence.

Maryann was our neighbor for 23 years except when she and Joel went off to Florida. I missed her and Joel even then. I would look out our window and wonder when we would see them again. What I didn't enjoy was suddenly seeing an ambulance coming by and hoping it wasn't going to stop next door. She endured so many health hardships but she came out on the other side with a smile and her faith in God. She never complained!! My last good memory was her and Joel having a drink on our closed in porch where they told their story of how they met - a delightful tale. I will miss Maryann and feel so much for Joel and Toby who miss her so much.

Maryann was a wonderful neighbor that I will miss so much. Many years ago Maryann and I and Mary Jo Patterson walked every morning without fail with their two dogs, Sammy and Pepper - we called ourselves the Three Musketeers because we bravely joined each other, dark or not, at 6am to walk three abreast down the path together.
She was one of the kindest people I know, who also laughed easily and listened well to all her friends. Her devotion to her children and to Joel was absolute, never thinking of herself first.
I will miss her so much.

Maryann has been our family friend for 20 years. She was kind and loving and always put others before herself. She was a woman of great faith and hope and is a role model for all of us. Maryann loved her family and her grandchildren were the light of her life. I will dearly miss getting together with her for coffee, conversation and the enjoyment of her great sense of humor. My family loved this wonderful woman who is now at peace and safely in heaven. ❤️
