Dear Nancy, Kevin, John and Billy,
We are so sorry for your loss as we will be missing one of our favorite friends from our Monroeville days. Every time I pass the Evergreen exit on I-65 I remember John; for awhile I would plan a rest stop at the Greenville store in hopes of running into him there. Upon learning that it had been sold, we still often stop there just for the memories. John could always be counted on to give 100% to activities involving the boys. The great thing about living in Monroeville was that friends were connected in so many ways as the circle of activities involved the same people supporting whether it was for Dixie Youth Baseball, Monroe Academy, Boy Scouts or Monroeville community events.
Though I was a Baptist, I always respected John's spiritual commitment to the Catholic Church and the Christ whom we both shared. John always left whatever activity, or arranged around activities to worship at any nearby Mass each weekend. I specifically remember Boy Scout (Cub Scout) campouts.
Though there were few personal contacts in the later years, I always remembered John as a faithful, dependable and unique lifelong friend. We are thankful to have been his friend.

Kevin, I was so sorry to hear about your father. I smiled as I saw the picture here just as I remember him from childhood. What a hero bringing McDonalds (and the Rices!) to our little town. Remember when you brought real frozen McDonalds hamburgers to our Boy Scout campouts? Your father will be missed by all who knew him.
O God of grace and glory, we remember before you this day our brother John. We thank you for giving him to us, his family and friends, to know and to love as a companion on our earthly pilgrimage. In your boundless compassion,console us who mourn. Give us faith to see in death the gate of eternal life, so that in quiet confidence we may continue our course on earth, until, by your call, we are reunited with those who have gone before; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

My wife and I are sad to hear of Uncle Johns passing. I always remember vacations in Destin and spending time on the boat with him and the cousins. On last Thursday the Browns beat the Jets and my Dad and both were texting back and forth about Uncle John. The Browns ended up winning a game for the first time in almost two years, and we both thought that it was a win for Uncle John. We will miss you!

I remember Uncle John taking us fishing in the Gulf on the boat. He was always untangling fishing lines, and cleaning the fuel filter that was constantly getting clogged up with sand. We had so much fun, and looking back he was just trying to make his 3 sons and I have a fun time on the boat. I remember he was always drinking TAB... which I now know is diet coke, basically. I miss the 80's.
I miss my Uncle.
