I was deeply saddened about hearing about Ron’s passing

I always enjoyed the time I spent being with and talking with Ron and the Cancun family while in Cancun,

In 1987, I was a new attorney with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. I wrote appellate decisions (still do!) with the EEOC's Office of Review and Appeals (now a different name), where Ron was an upper level manager. Ron was a wonderful mentor, patient, and thoughtful. Before staff attorneys had computers, I remember once handwriting a voluminous appellate decision and putting it in a secretary's inbox to be typed. Ron removed the stack of papers that was my decision and without reading it kindly advised that by its very volume it was way too long. He was right, of course, and I cut it by more than half, resulting in a much better product, improving my skills, and saving the secretary much frustration. HIs method of communication was fatherly, and made me feel respected.
I am sorry for your loss. Ron is fondly remembered at the EEOC.

Dennis, Joy and the Copeland family,
We are so sorry for your loss. Ron was one of the many people who we looked forward to seeing at your parties. We will miss him.
We loved seeing him take pictures of everyone and how he seemed to really enjoy it. He was always had a ready smile and was a very good conversationalist, we truly enjoyed his company.

My deepest condolences to the Copeland family. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Ron many years ago and I found him to be a gentleman with a kind spirit and caring heart. My cousin Ron always talked to me about my future asking all the right questions when I was young. He showed up at all the family reunions in New Jersey and after my parents moved to Virginia, there too. Great memories of a dear individual.

I have had the great fortune to have Ron Copeland as a very close friend, advisor, co-worker in three federal agencies, family member, travel buddy, vacation partner, and a lot more.
I have never met a person in over 50 years who has ever had a negative story to tell about Ron. Memories of his kindness, friendship, good humor, sense of fairness and patience mark him as a unique.
He made my world a much better place and we will be forever grateful for the friendship and love he along with his family extended to our family. His dignity as he faced the realities that awaited him was another example of the very Unique person that I was so lucky to have in my life.
I hope that the beautiful memories of Ron will help ease the pain of the loss as we thank him for the steps he took to make our little world a better place.
