Obituary of Jack Elkins Hunter

Jack Elkins Hunter, 84, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on September 30th, 2018 in Reston, Virginia.


 

Jack was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to John and Sophia Hunter on September 10th, 1934. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country. He was a Purple Heart recipient for his injuries and bravery.  After retiring from the military, he worked for Social Security Administration until he retired in 1997. He enjoyed football, hockey, cruises, traveling, and being with his family. He eventually moved to Florida in 2002 to stay warm and enjoy life. 


 

Jack is survived by his daughter, Henrietta Hunter Conate (her spouse, Leonard Conate) of Ashburn, Virginia, his grandchildren, Hendrick Hunter Conate (his spouse, Jason Cox) of Ashburn, Virginia, Dell Conate of Lorton, Virginia, and Jack Conate (his spouse, Kelly Siemion Conate) of Leesburg, Virginia, and great-grandson, Jackson Daniel Conate of Leesburg, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his wife, Teodora Hunter, his father, John Hunter, and mother, Sophia Hunter.


 

Visitation will be held at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, Virginia on Sunday, October 7th, 2018 between 3:00pm and 5:00pm.  Vigil Prayer service to be held during the visitation at 4:00pm. A Mass of Christian burial to be held at a later date at Ft. Myer Chapel followed by burial services with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
