Your smile was infectious. I’m completely heartbroken that you’ve passed. You were one of the good ones. You were kind, loving and grateful. This is how I will remember you, always.
Life is unfair and your journey ended way too soon. My heart breaks for your wife and children, your dedication as a father and husband surpasses all. Rest In Peace friend.

I've only know Butch for a short time, but my yearly interactions with him for his car show were always so positive. I was very sad to hear of his passing as was my husband. One meets few people in their lives that put a smile on your face whenever you see them and Butch was one of those people to us. It was a joy to work with him and I admired his dedication to the cause. I lost my father when I was 16, so I know this will be hard on his children, but they are old enough to have some great memories of such a wonderful man. The fact that his passing had such an effect on us, who didn't know him very well, says a lot about the man.

A year behind Butch at HHS, it's safe to say we didn't run in the same social circles, but it didn't stop him from saying hello to me in the halls, or at practice, where I acted as manager or trainer or scorekeeper for a variety of varsity sports, several of which Butch was on. Even if you didn't know who Butch was, you knew that smile from across campus.....it shone brighter than the sun in the middle of summer!
Many years after I graduated from HHS, while working in the Pentagon, I quite literally bumped into Butch at an interesection between rings. To my surprise, he remembered me from high school, gave me a hug, and told me how nice it was to see me.
These stories, while they only touched me, seem to echo what everyone else who has had much longer and more recent contact with Butch....once you became part of his world, you were always part of it, and he made you feel important. It takes a very special person to be able to do that, especially at the young age I first experienced it.
The world will be a darker place without Butch and his million-watt smile, and while I know He has His reasons, I can't imagine why HaShem would choose to call him home so soon. But it's not for us to question His plans.
To all of Butch's family: May HaKadosh Baruch Hu (the Holy One, Blessed be He) comfort you all as you begin this new chapter of your lives. May Butch's memory be for a blessing and a source of comfort to all who knew and loved him, and may we all know the peace and love that HaShem would have us know.

Dear Monica, Jane, Will, Micheal & Family,
Butch had been our financial advisor for 20+ years. Every time we talked with Butch or we met with him he was so full of life and just plain happy. We're in shock & devastated to hear of his passing. My heart truly goes out to you all. After my husband passed six years ago I would bring my daughter to meet with Butch and she would have to bring her then, little boys. He was always so happy to have them in his office and he would let them shoot basketball & play with his toys. He would then talk about his own children and all of the wonderful things that you guys were doing. His staff/friends were always so pleasant and welcoming to us. We are so very sorry for your loss. There are really no words. Please know we were blessed to have known him. To know him was to have liked him. Prayers & embraces all around.
Our sincere condolences & sympathy to you all. Sorry I couldn't be there tonight. I'm not feeling well.

It's been days and we're still in speechless shock. Butch was so full of life. I'll be forever in his debt for how he cared about my son Steven while coaching GF select basketball. He was so good to Steven that you would have thought Steven was his own son. He took a group of kids cut from the A team and build them into a B team that was better than A. He loved coaching the kids and they loved him. He made the world a better place having had him in it. He is so missed already and will forever be. No words can really describe the man that Butch was. I have never met someone with such a love of life. He took every situation and put a positive spin on it. In the 15 years I worked with him, Butch was my mentor and a great friend. Countless times, I would sit on the couch in his office and we would chat about life. He gave Jack and Henry their love of cars which started with Jack driving the Impala on the parking deck at the office and the many years helping with the car show. There are so many fond memories and I will cherish all of them.

Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of this wonderful individual.
Butch met my husband soon after we were transferred to Washington while Pat was in the Navy. He has been our trusted adviser for more than twenty five years. We have enjoyed continued success for all that time, benefiting from his valuable guidance. Pat passed away in April of 2011. The following February I was invited by Butch to come in for my annual review on Valentine's Day. This became a tradition, having lunch with Butch at the Ritz. He always let me chatter away, discussing politics, family and our favorite pastimes. I looked forward to these visits and remain ever grateful for the kindness and sensitivity behind the invitation.
Butch was an unforgettable force. I will miss him for the rest of my life.

After my father passed, and I became my sister's financial guardian and my mother's informal financial advisor, I got to know Butch much better and looked forward to talking with him. Sending all the family and friends our warmest heartfelt condolences. Butch was not only one of the most "genuine people" I've ever met. His dedication to his family friends and every cause he was ever involved in "was real".
His call to heaven may be as a "Guardian Saint" to his beloved family and friends. Our prayers are to all he knew!

Mr. Sevila was one of my first baseball coaches and he made little league a happy experience for everyone. He and the rest of the Sevila’s continues to support me throughout high school baseball and through other challenges I pursued. He was a role model for my brother and I growing up and I’m sure a lot of the community can say the same. One of my favorite memories of him was when I was doing my world record attempts a few years ago and he was at a dance or something so he wasn’t able to come. Sometime after midnight that night he showed up at cooper middle school in a full tuxedo to congradulate and support me. He was an incredible person and I’m going to miss him a lot.

I had the privilege to know and serve with Butch on the Board of the DC Chapter of JDRF. Butch was passionate in helping the cause because of his son Michael who has T1D. His annual Cars for the Cure was a signature event that raised tens of thousands of dollars for JDRF. Butch was a wonderful person, engaging, friendly, positive, gregarious, warm, intelligent. I can't believe he is gone. God bless and watch over his wonderful family and close friends.

My family and I are so shocked and saddened by the news of Butch's passing. We met him when he took over for another broker who left the business. He would come to our house to get papers signed and shortly after we started seeing him he brought Jane to show her off. She was just a baby and he was so proud to be a father. Our thoughts are with all the Sevila family in this time of great sadness.

Butch was such a great person. He was older than me and someone I always looked up to. His big smile and positive attitude were one in a million. Always happy and so nice to me. While I have many fond memories of him, one of my favorite was him voting for me to represent the 1978 Red Sox All-Star team. I wasn't worthy, but he made my day when he flashed me a peek of his vote. I know that he was one of my dad's favorite little league players.
Sevila family, I am so sorry.

Our love to Monica, Jane, Will and Michael.
May your shared memories of an amazingly devoted husband and father comfort and sustain you during this sad, difficult time. Hold each other close and tell those stories.
We toasted Butch (and Monica) at our wedding in 1997 in gratitude for playing matchmaker. Butch just knew that his friend Gary would enjoy running late with Monica's chronically time-challenged friend, Rebecca. And, here we are 21 years of marriage and three children later, (mostly) on-time.
Just a few joyful memories; a muddy and messy Jimmy Buffett concert (which was actually a carefully executed and planned first date with Gary - I was oblivious), waterskiing/waterdragging, gathering at Chez Sevila for high school reunions or now, most cherished, sitting front row at the Steve Martin/Martin Short show. Butch called that once-in-a-lifetime experience a "bucket list" item. It truly was. Butch loved talking about glory days, but really lived his life to the fullest with that (Herndon HS '86-voted best) smile and a twinkle in his eye.
We'll forever treasure our friendship with Butch and love you all dearly.

I am truly heartbroken.
Butch was a most generous, genuine man, an acquaintance I made through our love of cars just four short years ago, who became a true friend. In that brief time I saw his love, his passion, for his family and his causes. My thoughts are so scrambled at this moment I find it hard to clearly relate my admiration for him.
My deepest condolences to everyone whose life he enriched and made better, both personally and through his warm, giving endeavors.
I pray for comfort for his beautiful family.
Dear Lord, please keep Butch close to your heart. You will be grateful too.

We are devastated to learn this. For 20+ years Butch was ours and our family's trusted confidant and protector. We appreciated his bond with Ken and their remarkable partnership. Over the years we cherished his deep love for his beautiful wife, his pride in his wonderful children, and his strong faith. His sunny nature, never-ending stories, and interest in just about anything made even a routine phone conversation enjoyable, and I will always be grateful for the genuine respect he unfailingly demonstrated towards WWII veterans. We are the richer -- in all ways -- for having known him, and his absence in this world is profoundly felt.
