I got to know Bob when I was an NSA officer assigned to the DI senior staff in the mid-90s. Spending time with him always made me feel grateful that the Intelligence Community was able to attract such incredible talent to the service of our country. He was a real gentleman. May he rest in peace.

I’m so sorry for your recent loss. My deepest condolences to your family. Death of a loved one is never easy to endure, but you don’t have to go through it alone. Continue looking to God and you will always find comfort in him (2 Cor 1:3,4). He will soon destroy the enemy of death (1 Cor 15:26), and He will soon return our loved ones to us through the resurrection (John 5:28,29). Please visit JW.org and search “When Someone You Love Dies”, it helped me through some difficult times and I hope you can find comfort in it also.

I attended Sandy Springs High School with Bob; he was in the class ahead of me. We played football together and his Dad was the PA announcer. We were never running buddies, but we had a good relationship.
We were later involved with the Buckhead Red Devils program which his Dad headed. The Blackwells were good people.
The last time I saw Bob was at a reunion. He looked good and it was great to see him after all those years.
I know the Lord will give you peace . You'll never get totally over this, but you will get through it. God bless Bob Blackwell and God Bless his soul.

I did not meet Bob until our last decade working at the Agency when we both became deputy office directors. I had known and worked with Carol several years earlier.
Bob was as gifted a manager as he was an analyst. I was always impressed with how much he knew about the issues in his area of responsibility but I was even more impressed with the degree to which he cared about the people who worked for him and the innovative ideas he instituted to assist them. In addition, he and Carol opened their home to the members of his unit every year at holiday time and many remarked to me how much they appreciated their willingness to host them.
One of Bob's many talents at work was the close scrutiny and commentary he provided to me on management issues and decisions made by the "7th floor". He was not inhibited in voicing his concerns and I would often get a phone call or a visit in the morning as soon as I arrived in the office to hear Bob convey his thoughts about a certain issue whether it concerned our office, the Agency, or even other elements of the government. If an issue was particularly irritating to him and the welfare of his people, I would invariably hear Bob's characterization of the way things were handled as - "This is nuts". I often wondered if the phrase had something to do with Bob's upbringing in the peanut land of Georgia.
Bob will be missed and remembered fondly by all of those who had the privilege to work with him.
