Damon & Family, It is with great sadness to have learned of the sudden illness and passing of Richard. Although, we have been the best of friends for many of the twenty-five years of your marriage, the pain and loss of a loved one measures no boundries. You and Damon are in our thoughts and prayers. Dear Winnie, it's been 53 years ago that I met you & Richard at St. Joe High School. Time and life events have entwine our life's so that we are still friends even today. I was so very happy that you and Richard got together, and I'am sure that God's plan was completed. I know that you will always have some part of Richard with you. I am very sorry that your time together was short, but I am sure it was filled with good memories. Please know my prayers are with you and for God's grace and comfort to be yours.

Marjorie, Roger, Bob, Mike and Terry, Words can't express the sorrow I feel at Richard's passing. Richard will always have a place in my heart as divorce can't erase the 25 years we had together or the love we shared. My thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you and if there is anything I can do, please let me know. All my love, Holly

Eberhardt Family: As many of you know, Dick and I have known each for many years, meeting when we were in grade school. I think I was in 2nd, grade and Dick was in 3rd. Even though Dick and his family moved to Minnesota in late summer 1963, we never let distance be a barrier. We always remained in contact with each other, be it letter in the early days, telephone, and finally email. We shared a few personal visits along the way, the last in 2003. During our formative years, it was the norm if one saw one of us, one saw all three Dick, me, and Dick's brother Bob. We were inseparable. I will always cherish the memories of our time together, no person could have had a better time growing up than me. Dick was a major part of that experience. Words cannot express the sorrow regarding your passing. Well my friend, I am not going to say goodbye, but I will say, "till we someday meet again."

Winnie -- Dick was an exceptional man. He was stiff, stubborn, opinionated, driven, & always expected more from himself. Then you got to know him & realized he was stubborn, opinionated, driven, & expected much from himself -- but he was also giving, supportive, open to new friends, caring, concerned about others, loyal to a fault, & willing to go out of his way to help others. For months I listened to Dick talk about "Winnie" as he made trip after trip to Wisconsin. He'd stop by my office at 0400 just to tell me how Winnie was doing when they spoke the night before. And every time he spoke about Winnie -- his face lit up with a huge smile! I'm not sure I had ever seen Dick smile until I saw him talk about you. You were his love & he didn't mind telling anyone. Dick was private in so many ways, but he'd talk about Winnie. I still remember the email I received from him after you were married last New Year's Day. He was ecstatic & wanted to let me know. I respected Dick, enjoyed Dick, was intimidated by him when I first met him, would do anything for him, & he was always the first one I went to when I needed something badly. Dick will never be forgotten. Thanks, Winnie, for loving him & giving to him so freely. It changed him & you made him whole. Our love for Dick extends to you. We hurt in losing him, but are thankful he shared you with us.

Winnie and the Eberhardt Family: My deepest sympathies to you all! Dick was a wonderful, caring person and a true friend. I've worked with him for over 20 years starting with QSI and now BAE Systems. I work remotely, but Dick and I have ALWAYS kept in touch. He was a great supporter of my team in Lexington and San Antonio. He took care of us all! Winnie, you were the love of his life! He was so proud of you and so happy! We will never forget him! You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I want to first start by thanking.Dick for all of the support he has provided me over the many years that I have known him. Dick was truly a man's man, but with a gentle and giving spirit. I could always depend on, and confide in Dick when it came to business and personal matters. Dick, my friend and colleague I will never forget you and will miss you greatly.

I had the great honor and privilege of working with Dick at QSI and BAE Systems for most of two decades. Dick was quiet, respectful, and unobtrusive in a job that would have tried the patience of a saint. He was responsible for making sure that everything about the facilities worked, and the secret to his success was in planning ahead so that there was never a shortage, never a crisis, never something that he had not thought about. Dick was the most reliable person that I ever had the privilege to know, and he went out of his way to help his friends in the office--and everyone was his friend.

I knew Dick for many years through work at both QSI and BAE Systems. Dick was always the "goto" guy, always worked hard in his job, and did it well. You always knew you could count on Dick to the do the job right. I enjoyed many converstations with Dick about corvettes. My only regret is that we never shared a ride together. I am sure he is somewhere now cruising in his '62.

To my grandma, my mom, my uncles, Winnie, and my Uncle Rich's great friends: I'm so sorry for you loss. I wish I'd been able to know my Uncle Rich better over the years, but was glad to have met him and spent some time with him when I moved to the east coast from California. I still can't get over how much he reminded me of grandpa when I met him for the first time. I know he will be greatly missed. love, Stephanie
