Brian Hillock

Obituary of Brian Joseph Hillock

Brian J. Hillock (Age: 64), beloved husband and father, passed away November 29, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Brian will be missed by his wife of 33 years Ruth, daughter Rosie, mother Glenrose, two brothers Kevin and Craig, “brothers from another mother” Don Clark and Pierce Bates as well as friends and family too numerous to name. Brian is predeceased by his father Joseph.

Brian lived life to the fullest, always with a twinkle in his eyes and a light-hearted teasing manner. He was a music aficionado whose taste ran the gamut from Reggae to new age. Brian alsoenjoyed craft beers which led to frequent excursions to our region’s many micro breweries. As for his enjoyment of football, Brian held tight to the belief that his favorite Redskins would some day again win the Super Bowl. And his unparalleled ability to retain trivia factoids made Brian a much sought after partner in the game of Trivial Pursuit.

Born at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. to an Air Force family, Brian spent his childhood in  many locations including Puerto Rico, southern California and finally northern Virginia. After graduating from Robinson High School in 1973, Brian later obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from George Mason University. At age 29, he met the love of his life Ruth and married her two years later. Having longed for many years to have a child, Brian and Ruth were blessed when Rosie came into their lives in the year 2000.

Brian cared a lot about the world and always kept a watchful eye on local politics and community developments. He was wholeheartedly devoted to raising his cherished daughter, and watching her blossom into a caring young woman committed to her studies and to contributing to others is what seemed to bring him the greatest joy in life.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 8 at 11:00 AM at Community Church of Ashburn, 19790 Ashburn Road, Ashburn, VA 20147.
