Obituary of John S. Haire

John S. Haire passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 5 surrounded by loving family members. He was born June 12, 1927 in Pascagoula, Mississippi to parents Horace Eugene Haire and Pearlie Mae Mason Haire Young.

John served in the Navy during WWII and was later called back into service for the Korean conflict. In all, he had 35 years of Government service before retirement. He exemplified the “Greatest Generation” with his courage in service to his country, but he lived for his God. When his beloved wife Abbie “Marie” died in 1984, his faith never faltered. He set a wonderful example for their 5 children with his dignity during that difficult time.

John was lucky enough to find love a second time with his wife Nelda to whom he was married over 25 years, until the time of his death. Their time together traveling, cooking, bowling and going to church made for a blessed retirement for them both.

The family would like to give a special thanks to John’s son Carl and especially his wife Tracey for the care John received during the final months of his life. In the end, you made Dad feel appreciated, respected and loved...although he may have died from an overdose of crab legs.
