Obituary of Lawrence Roland Marshall

Lawrence Roland Marshall, 92 

Mr. Lawrence Roland Marshall passed away peacefully on January 3, 2019 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville NC.  He was born March 11, 1926 to Louis Dewy Marshall and Bertha Evelyn Marshall.   He is predeceased by his loving wife Lanita L Marshall, in 2007 and great grandson Thomas Andrew Marshall in 2008.  He is survived by Daughter Evelyn Montgomery of Front Royal VA and Sons Alan R Marshall of Stony Point NC and David L Marshall of Statesville NC(Janet).  Six Grandchildren and seven Great Grandchildren also survive Mr. Marshall.    Born and raised in Great Falls Virginia, He graduated from Herndon HS and directly entered the US Navy in 1944.  He was a lifelong volunteer fireman in Great Falls and was a Little League leader and coach.  He retired from the Washington Gas Light Company after 35 years of service and retired to Front Royal Virginia.  There, he assisted in establishing North Warren Volunteer fire Company 10. He loved to help people in each community.   He will be greatly missed by family and friends.   The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 5 to 8 pm at Adams-Greens Funeral Home in Herndon VA where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 9, 2019 at 1 PM with Rev. Livingston Dore of Great Falls United Methodist Church officiating. Interment Arnon Cemetery. A reception will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 4 - 7 pm at the North Warren Fire Department Company 10 2nd floor hosted by Mr. David Johnson. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, North Warren County Volunteer Company 10 or Gordon Hospice House in Statesville NC.
